Smart Board 4000 series

Smart Technologies' 4000-series interactive flat panel display

Smart Technologies is expanding its portfolio of interactive flat panels with new models that provide a greater variety of sizes and price points for education institutions. The company's existing Smart Board E70 (70-inch diagonal; $4,499 suggested education price) and 6065 (65-inch; $4,499) will be joined by the 6055 (55-inch; $3,499) 4065 (65-inch; $3,499) and 4055 (55-inch; $2,499).

Rated for 50,000 hours of use, all of the interactive flat panels feature multitouch capabilities and Smart ink technology, which the company bills as a "smooth, natural ink experience when writing with a pen or a finger," and come with Smart Notebook collaborative learning software. The optional Smart amp software enables collaboration across different mobile devices.

The Smart Board 4000 series (comprised of the E70, 4065 and 4055) features HD LED displays with Silktouch, a "virtually frictionless glass surface for an accurate multitouch experience that supports gestures and multiple simultaneous users," according to the company. The 6000 series provides an upgrade to 4K ultra HD; object awareness, the ability to automatically detect whether a user is applying a finger, pen, fist or eraser; and Pen iQ, the ability for two users to write with different colored pens independently and simultaneously.

The new Smart Board 6055 and 4065 models will be available at the end of January; the 4055 will be available at the end of March.
