Revamped Mobile App Supports Learning on the Go at American InterContinental U

American InterContinental University is rolling out a newly redesigned mobile app that provides students with tools for any time, anywhere learning. Students can now access the virtual classroom, e-textbooks, grades and more via Apple iOS and Android phones and tablets.

Prior to launch, the app was tested by a volunteer group of students, who provided feedback to help fine-tune its features. A variety of app functions provide mobile access to learning, support networks and time management tools:   

• Course Materials and Assignments: Students can access e-textbooks, live chats and more by tapping on a desired course. They also can navigate to assignments and personalized learning maps in Intellipath, the university's adaptive learning platform.
• Discussion Boards: Students can participate in discussion boards and share ideas with peers via mobile phone or tablet. The app also provides notifications when discussion board posts generate new responses.
• Real-Time Notifications: Notifications on grades, assignments and tasks appear on students' mobile devices even with they aren't logged in to the app. Within the app, a school bell icon on the home screen tracks new notifications.
• Time Management: The app provides a to-do list organized by day and week. Students can add tasks and assignments to their personal calendars; sync their school calendars; and e-mail tasks to their mobile device.
• Student Support: Through the app, students can e-mail or call professors, the financial aid department or student services advisers with one tap. A directory lists hours and contact information for key AIU departments.
• Tracking Progress: A degree tracker helps students monitor current grades, progress in a degree program and specific milestones along the way.

"We are proud to introduce this best-in-class, student-centric tool that fits our students' busy lifestyles."
