Northern Kentucky U Helps SAP Move SIS to Cloud

A Kentucky university will be working with SAP and a solution provider to create a cloud-based version of SAP's student information system (SIS). Northern Kentucky University, which has long used SAP software to run its business and student systems, is contributing institutional know-how to the project, which will also involve SAP partner 3V Solutions.

The pre-configured and hosted SAP SIS will take advantage of HANA, the company's high performance relationship database management system, and Fiori, its platform for porting applications to mobile devices with updated interface elements.

"We have derived consistent long-term value from SAP solutions across our operations," said university CIO, Tim Ferguson, in a prepared statement. "We know industry cloud solutions are a priority for universities and believe [this partnership] will benefit universities around the country, and we look forward to cooperating and supporting our shared vision."
