UCI Launches Coaching Service for Continuing Education Students

The University of California Irvine's Division of Continuing Education (UCI DCE) is launching a new career coaching service for students that combines both digital and live components. The coaching service is being started in conjunction with InsideTrack at the same time the university begins its UCI+One program, intended to help recent graduates find their career paths.

InsideTrack is a company that combines professional coaching, technology and data analytics to help students balance their academic work with all of the other responsibilities in their lives — personal and professional. As part of the coaching process, students get one-on-one meetings and have e-mail and text communication with professional InsideTrack coaches. They also can access self-service content on the company's uCoach web and mobile platform.

The platform sends students introductory e-mails and texts directing them to the web and mobile apps, where they can learn about how coaches can help them, and schedule a meeting with one.

The coaching service is now available to the more than 15,000 students enrolled in UC Irvine's DCE and UCI+One programs. Next year, the service will be expanded to all UCI alumni.

"With today's complex, ever-changing job market, UCI DCE takes very seriously our commitment to our students and alumni to support them in building a successful and rewarding career," said Gary Matkin, UCI dean of continuing education, distance learning and summer session.
