UWGB Taps Snapchat to Notify Students of Acceptance

Admissions officers at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay (UWGB) are using Snapchat to notify prospective students who applied and were accepted into the university. The popular social media app sends photos, videos and messages that typically can only be viewed for a few seconds at a time.

“Students love Snapchat. The age group that we’re looking to really connect with, they’re on Snapchat all of the time,” Jena Richter Landers, UWGB social media specialist, told a local news organization.

Accepted students will receive a snap from UWGB before they receive the traditional packet and e-mail. UWGB said that students are responding enthusiastically to the Snapchat notifications – taking screenshots and responding back to the university with an excited selfie.
