U of Colorado Denver to Open Media and Technology Center

The University of Colorado Denver is opening a new facility that combines media, technology and entrepreneurship.

Thanks to a $5 million gift from Comcast, the university is building the Comcast Media and Technology Center, an interdisciplinary space for students to mix with the outside business community. According to a university news report, the 1,900-square-foot facility will be located within the Tivoli Student Union. The College of Arts and Media has teamed up with the College of Engineering and Applied Science to create a curriculum for students for the fall. At the new center, students will work to solve real-world problems presented by staff experts representing Comcast and other businesses.

“If creativity is the currency of the 21st Century, then academic institutions need to join with media and technology organizations to work toward discovery and excellence in creativity,” said College of Arts & Media Dean Laurence Kaptain.

The center will be open to working professionals seeking additional, not-for-credit training as well. The Comcast Media and Technology Center is scheduled to open March.
