North Carolina Central Joins State Campus Online Network

North Carolina Central University has corralled its numerous online offerings into a new platform and linked it to a statewide catalog of programs. The new NCCU Online is intended to hook students up to information about web-based degree and certificate programs and scholarships and financial aid as well as applications and support services.
NCCU Online has also become part of the University of North Carolina Online network, which delivers thousands of online courses produced at 17 campuses. The institution, one of the nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities, also launched a new online degree certificate for artists who want to teach.
NCCU will deliver 10 bachelor's and master's degree programs, including "Hospitality & Tourism Administration" and "Education Technology," as well as seven credentialing programs, such as "E-Learning Instructor" and "Certificate in Health Informatics." The newest certificate program, "Teaching Artist Certificate Program," starts in the fall and will help performing artists learn skills related to planning, designing and implementing arts experiences for general audiences, including school residencies and cultural-arts programs for schools and community-based organizations.
"Through NCCU Online, we extend the benefit of an NCCU education to students who need the flexibility of online learning," said Kimberly Phifer-McGhee, director of the Division of Extended Studies, in a prepared statement. "With the growing number of national distance learners, NCCU is able to provide quality education in much-in-demand career fields."
Like the face-to-face offerings, those courses delivered online by the university follow two tuition rates — one for North Carolina residents and another for non-residents.
