Unizin Building Data Platform on the Google Cloud

Unizin, the consortium of 25 colleges and universities focused on improving teaching and learning with technology, is turning to the Google Cloud as the foundation for an "interoperable, standards-driven ecosystem for teaching and learning data." The Unizin Data Platform will allow member universities to securely store, integrate and analyze student data and leverage those insights to improve student outcomes.

"Building the Unizin Data Platform on the Google Cloud Platform provides our members with scalable infrastructure, powerful data analytics and the ability to leverage machine learning solutions to advance Unizin's work to improve learning research and outcomes in a secure environment," noted Rob Lowden, Unizin executive director, in a prepared statement.

In addition, institutions will have the option to share anonymized data at the consortium level to support academic research. "As a whole, the consortium will operate the largest, richest and broadest collection of learner data in higher education," Unizin said in a news announcement.

That data repository will operate within Unizin and institutional privacy and data security policies, the organization added.
