Instructional design firm iDesign has unveiled a new competency-based education program for learner experience professionals. The certificate program, called LX Pathways, covers core competencies for instructional designers, such as learning theories, project management, LMS fundamentals, mentoring and support, and accessibility requirements.

Courses for the new program are currently being piloted by students at several institutions, including Harvard's Graduate School of Education. Coursework will be "geared toward the needs of aspiring instructional design and technology professionals," according to a news announcement; students will receive micro-credentials as they demonstrate essential competencies along their way to earning a certificate.

LX Pathways will be available on iDesign's Course Market platform, which is powered by Instructure's Canvas learning management system. Course content will be online and self-paced, with "optional opportunities [for students] to share their work and collaborate with peers." The program is launching with an Instructional Technologist Pathway and a Learning Architect pathway, with an Accessibility Specialist Pathway coming soon.

More information is available ton the LX Pathways site.
