AWS Launches Bay Area Consortium for Cloud Computing Ed

The company is working with a group of California community colleges and state universities to develop a multi-course curriculum that will give those institutions a framework to develop courses focused on cloud computing.

Amazon Web Services is expanding its relationship with California community colleges and state universities to provide more students with opportunities to learn and obtain credentials focused on cloud computing. A consortium of Bay Area schools will be launching a multi-course curriculum that provides colleges with resources "to efficiently develop and launch cloud technology coursework."

This curriculum will enable students to get credentials in cloud computing through their institutions. The framework will start with community college students and expand to high schools and four-year colleges over the next two years.

Schools in the consortium include City College of San Francisco, Canada College, De Anza College, Evergreen Valley College, Foothill College, Las Positas College, College of San Mateo, Mission College, SIATech High Schools and Skyline College.

This new consortium builds on an AWS Educate program with the Los Angeles Community College District that was announced in August 2018. Through the CA Cloud: Los Angeles program, 19 community colleges and their sister high schools are offering a five-course curriculum where students can obtain a cloud computing certificate from the institutions.
