JVC Camcorders Add Livestreaming Capabilities

Camcorders from JVC Professional Video can now stream directly from the camera to two major social networks. JVC's Connected Cam 500- and 900-Series camcorders can transmit videos to Facebook Live and YouTube Live with a single button click, as long as the cameras they have the latest firmware update. The new feature makes it possible for broadcasters to live-stream events, meetings, games and other visual activities.

With the update, the 500-Series cameras can also produce streams in vertical (606x1080 and 404x720) and square (1080x1080 and 720x720) formats.

The "Easy Setup Facebook Live" feature, previously available on the JVC GY-HM250, can also be used by GY-HC500 users for real-time broadcasting on individual, business and media pages. The benefit, according to the company, is that users can deliver the video "in seconds" versus having to type in and adjust settings beforehand.

The new firmware also incorporates an "Easy Setup YouTube Live" feature that provides a direct-to-YouTube capability and allows users to schedule streaming with a specified start time.

The models covered under this update include:

  • GY-HC500U, a 4K handheld 1-inch camcorder (with a suggested retail price of $3,900);

  • GY-HC500SPC, a 4K sports production and coaching 1-inch camcorder ($4,400);

  • GY-HC550U, a 4K handheld 1-inch broadcast camcorder ($5,500);

  • GY-HC900ST, a 2/3-inch studio camcorder ($12,500); and
