5 Higher Ed Research Datasets Added to Ithaka S+R Collection

Consultancy Ithaka S+R has made five datasets newly available for download from its higher education research. The work is stored by the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR).

The access, which requires registration, now includes these datasets:

The "Ithaka S+R US Library Survey" from 2019, which drew responses from 662 library deans and directors at four-year nonprofit institutions;
"Organizing Support for Success: Community College Academic and Student Support Ecosystems," conducted in spring 2019 with 249 chief academic and student affairs officers in community colleges;
The "Ithaka S+R Faculty Survey" from 2018, which captures the "changing research, teaching and publishing habits" of faculty members in the United States;
"Community College Libraries & Academic Support for Student Success Survey," a fall 2018 survey co-led by Northern Virginia Community College among 10,844 students; and
"University Futures, Library Futures," input from 581 library directors from 2017 and 2018 and developed with global library cooperative OCLC.

The goal of making the data available for use by others, according to a blog article by Assessment Associate Nicole Betancourt, was twofold: to ensure that the data was "digitally preserved, enabling long-term access," and also that the data was "thoroughly processed and made available in a variety of formats for download."
