Sonic Foundry Launches New Mediasite Recorder Automates Closed Captioning

At the InfoComm 2010 convention this week in Las Vegas, Sonic Foundry debuted updates to its Media site lecture capture system, including new recorder hardware and updated Mediasite software.

On the hardware side, Sonic Foundry launched the new Mediasite ML Recorder. The new version of the portable lecture capture and streaming appliance is both smaller and lighter-weight than its predecessor, with a slimmer profile (overall 14 percent smaller) and less aggressive gravitational pull, weighing in at 13.5 pounds (a 39 percent reduction in weight). It also adds an over-the-shoulder padded travel bag.

On the software side, Mediasite 5.4 is also being released. The latest version includes improvements to the recording UI and adds new encoding profiles. More significantly, it gains integrated support for automated closed captioning, as well as Silverlight multicast support.

Sonic Foundry is demonstrating the updated hardware and software in booth N627. Further details can be found here.
