D2L Launches Mobile Learning Environment

Desire2Learn this week announced a new mobile application of its Desire2Learn Learning Environment. Called Desire2Learn 2GO, the application ties in with Learning Environment 8.3 to provide access via Blackberry. The company also announced that it's streamlining integration Respondus 3.5, a quiz- and test-building application.

Showing this week at Desire2Learn's Fusion 2008 user conference in Memphis, TN, 2GO provides mobile access to what Desire2Learn describes as "core Desire2Learn Learning Environment data and functionality." It includes features for collaboration, interaction, communication, access to course details and class lists, the ability to view and edit user data, support for connecting to multiple organizations, and viewing and editing grades.

The company said it will be sponsoring several Webinars on mobile e-learning in the coming months.

In other D2L news, the company Tuesday announced a partnership with Respondus to improve integration with that company's Respondus 3.5, a desktop application for developing assessments. Through the new integration features, Respondus users (instructors) can upload assessments directly to the Desire2Learn Learning Environment one at a time or in batches.

A beta of the new integration is being shown at Fusion 2008 this week as well. Details on a final ship date have not been revealed.
