Sanyo Debuts 4 Large-Venue Projectors


The PLC-WM5500 and the PLC-WM4500

At the InfoComm 2010 conference in Las Vegas, Sanyo announced four new widescreen projectors designed for large venues: the LCD-based PLC-WM5500, PLC-WM4500, and PLC-HF10000 and the DLP-based PDG-DHT8000L.

The PLC-WM5500 and the PLC-WM4500 are HDMI 1.3b-compatible models that offer a native resolution of 1,280 x 800 (WXGA), a contrast ratio 800:1, picture-in-picture, picture-by-picture, RJ-45 connectivity, and RS-232 control.

The PLC-WM5500 offers a brightness of 5,500 lumens, horizontal digital keystone correction (±20 degrees), vertical digital keystone correction (±40 degrees), and an integrated 7 watt speaker. The PLC-WM4500 offers a brightness of 4,500 lumens and vertical-only keystone adjustment (±40 degrees).

Video inputs for both models include HDMI 1.3b, RGB (mini D-sub 15), BNC (five-port), component, S-video, and composite video. Audio inputs include HDMI, a stereo minijack, and stereo RCA jacks.

Both models weigh in at more than 20 pounds without lens.

Sanyo's other LCD large venue projector, the 2k-resolution PLC-HF10000, comes equipped with Sanyo's Quadrive color technology, a feature that adds a yellow color control device to the typical three-color LCD system.

The PDG-DHT8000L is a single-DLP projector that uses twin color wheels and uses two 380 watt bulbs to project 8,000 lumens of brightness. A Peltier cooling system is employed to dissipate the heat from the two bulbs and keep fan noise below 35dBA with the projector in eco mode.

Sanyo is demonstrating these technologies at InfoComm 2010 in booth C5125. Further details were not available at press time.
