Epson Debuts Sub-$600 LCD Classroom Projector


Epson's PowerLite X9 is expected to ship in April for $599.

Epson recently introduced a 2,500-lumen classroom projector that's expected to come in at about $600 when it ships next quarter.

The PowerLite X9 is an LCD-based projector that offers a resolution of 1,024 x 768 (XGA) and a contrast ratio of up to 2,000:1, according to the company. It projects a 30-inch image at a distance of 2.9 feet and a 350-inch image at a distance of 34.4 feet.

Other features include:

  • 1.2x optical zoom lens (manual focus, f/1.44);
  • ±30 degree vertical keystone correction (manual);
  • Integrated 1 watt speaker; and
  • 5,000-houir lamp life in economy mode (4,000 hours in regular mode).

AV inputs include component/RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin connector); S-video; composite video; and stereo minijack (3.5 mm). AV outputs include RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin) and stereo minijack. The unit also includes a USB port.
