Digital signage company Videotel has released an "industrial-grade" media player that includes a built-in scheduler. The VP71 XD model lets users time specific content throughout the day or week.

The unit is pre-set to repeat mode, which will display video, audio and photos in the order they're loaded on an SD card or USB drive. The scheduling mode is available as a menu option to fix display of content, such as menus that vary by time or day. On the same media device that holds the content, the user includes a brief "playlist" text file with start and stop times to direct the media player. The unit retails for $382 and includes an 8 Gb SD card and 8 Gb USB drive, as well as a remote control and cabling.

The new model also includes the capability to add interactivity to a display with optional components, such as the PUSH, a device that can trigger digital content from LED push buttons; or the MOVE, which allows additional content to display when human motion is detected by a motion sensor.
