BenQ's MP512 STSleek Short-Throw

BenQ has announced the MP512ST short-throw 1080p DLP projector, able to project a 60-inch image from less than 4 feet away. To ensure high color accuracy, the MP512ST features proprietary BrilliantColor technology, a 3D color management system, and a wall color correction feature. Other features include: two integrated 5W speakers; 2,500:1 contrast ratio; ultra-quiet operation at a 26dB noise level; integrated closed captioning decoder; and 4,000-hour lamp life for fewer bulb replacements and low power consumption. The projector sports a sleek design fashioned after the Saab Aero X concept car, and weighs just 5.3 pounds. MSRP: $699.

Numonics' PI-1900Upgraded Presentation Tool

Numonics has released the PI-1900, an LCD tablet monitor suitable for both large and small-venue presentations. Adjustable viewing and writing angles allow the monitor to be placed on a podium, conference table, or desk, and it requires no external power supply. The PI-1900 features several technology upgrades over the previous model (the PI-1500): a larger 19-inch screen with increased viewing area, higher resolution (doubled from 500 to 1,000 lpi), and larger viewing angles, ranging from 75 to 85 degrees. Price: $2,095.

Digital Workflow

Turnitin has introduced WriteCycle, a suite of web-based, integrated services aimed at improving student writing. The new instructional tool is a 100 percent digital workflow solution that integrates Turnitin’s originality checking and plagiarism prevention service with the process of writing, feedback, and grading. WriteCycle’s interconnected services consist of: Originality Checking (for plagiarism prevention), GradeMark digital grading (a digital markup system for editing and grading papers completely online), and the Peer Review collaboration and feedback system (which allows instructors to create customizable, flexible peer-review assignments that students then use as a framework for reading, evaluating, and learning from each other’s work). Turnitin’s Originality Checking service is still available alone, or can be purchased as part of the WriteCycle digital workflow solution. Contact vendor for pricing.
