Grand Rapids Community College Streamlines Workflow with Document Management

Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) will be implementing ImageNow from Perceptive Software for document management in its student records office, financials, and purchasing. The college, which has about 30,000 students, wanted an application for managing documents that would work with an existing PeopleSoft business application.

"Perceptive Software is a proven leader in higher education, and its solution-based technology resonated well with our institution," said Howard Shanken, registrar.

As with many such implementations, the college is modifying business processes to address inefficiencies in workflow. "As a result, steps are already disappearing, workflow is being enhanced, and efficiency and student service are improving," Shanken said. "ImageNow is facilitating improved communication and collaboration among departments, allowing our staff to refocus its energy where it belongs, on our students."

In a statement, the college said it hopes to leverage the new software campus-wide to connect all of its offices and records through ImageNow and PeopleSoft. Its next planned implementation includes several student services offices including financial aid, counseling, and enrollment services.
