MultiDyne Unveils Fiber DVI Extender

MultiDyne's DVI-ONE-E DVI/fiber adapter

MultiDyne--a New York-based company that manufactures fiber optic receivers and transmitters, distribution amplifiers, routing switchers, and other pro AV equipment--debuted a DVI to fiber adapter and portable fiber optic field transport system at the InfoComm 2010 conference in Las Vegas last week.

The DVI to fiber adapter, DVI-ONE-E, sends DVI signals over multi-mode fiber for distances up to 1,000 meters and supports bidirectional communications for both EDID, a technology used for communication between devices, and HDCP, a form of copyright restriction required to display supported content.

The unit can transfer resolutions up to 1,920 x 1,200 (WUXGA) and is compatible with most HDMI-compliant devices.

Features include a USB port, which can be used to power the unit, and built-in security for both video and audio communications.

Multidyne's other new product, the HalfCuBE, is a portable fiber optic field transport system that can handle up to 40 channels on a single fiber, with support for a wide range of video and audio, ranging from composite to HD. It portable unit stands at 7 inches and can be run off batteries or AC power.
