Canon has debuted five new midrange and entry-level LCD classroom projectors, including four for $800 or less.

The new LV-7490 features the highest brightness of the five projectors, at 4,000 lumens, and offers an XGA resolution (1,024 x 768 pixels). The LV-8225, with a brightness of 2,500 lumens, is the highest-resolution model of the new batch at 1,280 x 800 pixels (WXGA).

The remaining three models--the LV-7390, LV-7295, and LV-7290--are XGA-resolution projectors. The LV-7390 has a brightness of 3,000 lumens, the LV-7295 2,600 lumens, and the LV-7290 2,200 lumens.

Other features common to all of the models include:

  • WIred network connectivity via RJ-45;
  • Automatic setup;
  • Automatic vertical keystone correction;
  • 1.2x manual zoom lens; and
  • Up to 5,500-hour filter life.

The LV-7490 has an estimated lamp life of 5,000 hours in "quiet mode," while the rest offer a lamp life of up to 6,000 hours.

All of the new models are expected to ship in April. The high-brightness LV-7490 will sell for $1,099. The WXGA LV-8225 will be available for $799. The rest--the LV-7390, LV-7295, and LV-7290--will sell for $799, $699, and $599, respectively. Further information can be found here.

    Academic environments face heightened risk because their collaboration-driven environments are inherently open, making them more susceptible to attack, while the high-value research data they hold makes them an especially attractive target. The question is not if this data will be targeted, but whether universities can defend it swiftly enough against increasingly AI-powered threats.
