Florida College Providing iPad 2 to Students, Faculty
Florida Technical College started deploying Apple iPad 2 tablets to new students and faculty in late November, with plans to expand the program to returning students in December. The college, headquartered in Orlando, has added an additional technology fee to cover the cost of the iPads.
The devices were distributed to students in degree and diploma programs at its five locations--Orlando, Lakeland, Kissimmee, DeLand, and Pembroke Pines. iPad 2 training, provided by Apple, was available on campus Monday and Tuesday, at the start of the quarter.
"The iPad greatly expands the learning universe for our students," said David Ruggieri, college president.
Florida Technical College is a private two-year college that offers associate's degrees, and diploma programs, in areas such as culinary arts, information technology, healthcare and criminal justice. It has enrollment of approximately 1,000.
