Tableau To Offer Analytics Software Free to Students
Visual analytics software company Tableau Software has launched a new academic program to provide free software licenses to students at accredited K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.
Originally developed at Stanford University, Tableau's data visualization software is currently in use by more than 10,000 organizations around the world to analyze business and scientific data. The new program is intended to get the software into the hands of students, providing real-world analytical skills that can be used post-graduation in a variety of professional settings.
"Tableau has been inspired by professors who've used Tableau in their courses to develop their students' analytical skills," said Christian Chabot, CEO and co-founder of Tableau Software, in a prepared statement. "We've always had close ties to the academic community and offering our product free to students is something we can do to help them build the skills they'll need when entering the workforce."
Under the new program, students can visit tableausoftware.com/freeforstudents to request a free product code. In addition to the academic program for students, Tableau has also developed the Tableau for Teaching initiative to provide software for the classroom.
