UC Irvine Extension Adds 12 New Distance Courses for Recent Grads
The University of California, Irvine Extension has launched 12 new career readiness courses to be offered as four Coursera Specializations. A Coursera Specialization is "a targeted sequence of courses with an applied final project," according to information on the Coursera blog.
"These courses are designed to provide learners with further skills and abilities to succeed in today's workplace," according to a news release. "The UC Irvine Extension courses consist of online training and a sequence of development sessions, intended for new graduates and other professionals who want to learn practical skills that will improve their marketability as employees."
The four new specializations include:
"We know that many college graduates complete their degrees with a skills gap which prevents them from successfully competing in the present day workforce," said Gary W. Matkin, dean of Continuing Education, Distance Learning and Summer Session, in a prepared statement. "These courses meet that need, adding to the education attained in a four-year degree with further specific and actionable skills, to prepare students for the evolving workplace."
Other institutions offering new Coursera Specializations include Duke University, Georgia Institute of Technology, National Taiwan University, Northwestern University, Peking University, University of Amsterdam, University of California San Diego, University of Illinois and University of Maryland.
