MSI Equips UCLA with Esports Hardware

The University of California, Los Angeles has signed a two-year deal with gaming hardware company MSI to outfit UCLA Esports with computers and monitors for all training an tournaments.

UCLA's esports team plays under the titles League of Legends, Overwatch, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros, and has placed highly in competitions such as Collegiate Overwatch and the Hearthstone Collegiate Championship, according to a news announcement. Among the talent to come out of the program: Dillon LeDuc, who recently achieved Rank 1 on the North American Hearthstone ladder and will compete in the Hearthstone Masters Tour in Los Angeles March 20-22.

"We are extremely excited to begin this partnership with MSI," said Associate Director of UCLA Recreation Brian Smith, in a statement. "MSI's products are well known worldwide and this agreement will allow us to provide new opportunities to our students as we work our way to the top of collegiate esports. This deal will allow us to give back to our student athletes and help improve their experience at UCLA while also providing more opportunities to engage the student body through gaming."
