Stanford Joins Internet Venture in China

Stanford University is investing in an Internet venture to provide U.S. medical information to consumers and practitioners in China. Bridgetech Holdings International, a San Diego-based company, plans to create a Web portal that will serve as a destination for Chinese people looking for health-related information.

The Texas A&M Health Center and China's Wu Jieping Medical Foundation have also joined the effort. We have to wonder if stretching and meditation (Falun Gong) will make it through the censors… (The Mercury News)

Microsoft Gives $1M to Women's Technology Group

The National Center for Women and Information Technology at U Colorado has received a $1M donation from Microsoft to support its work ensuring "women's knowledge and skills are fully represented in the creation, development, and consumption of information technology."

According to Microsoft, women make up less than 20 percent of students who graduate in engineering, computer science and other technical fields. Microsoft made the announcement at the Future Potential in IT seminar held at Seattle University… (The Denver Business Journal)
