Baylor Names CIO, Libraries Dean from Wellesley

Baylor University named Pattie Orr vice president for information technology and dean of its libraries. Orr, who is pursuing a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Massachusetts, is currently director of user services at Wellesley College.

"I'm just really looking forward to joining the Baylor family," said Orr, who is putting her degree candidacy on hold for the new job. "I started Resnet here [at Wellesley] back in 1994.... My background has been all about supporting users, and I want to make sure that information technology and the library are accessible to students."

Orr replaces Rebecca King, director of information systems and services, who served as interim chief information officer and William B. Hair III, associate dean and director of the university libraries, who served for the last year as interim dean of libraries.

She will be leading a university-wide information technology organization that provides administrative and academic technology services and technology infrastructure and library services, according to Baylor.
