Guns 'n' Grads: Florida Community College Sets Sights on High-Tech Firearms Training

Educate!

Fort Pierce, FL’s Indian River Community College will install a totally immersive IVR small arms training simulator from Houston, TX-based VirTra Systems to train students in its prominent law enforcement training program.

The IVR 4G-3000 virtual reality system will train students on firearms handling and situational awareness. The college’s system includes weapon training conversion kits for handguns and M-16 rifles and four Threat-Fire belts, which simulate trainees being struck by return fire.

"Community colleges have increasingly become important entry points throughout the United States for educating and training recruits as well as maintaining and advancing veteran law
enforcement professionals' ongoing qualification requirements,” said VirTra CEO Major General (Retired) Perry V. Dalby.

VirTra’s IVR firearms training systems feature a full immersion environment designed to provide a real-world, 360-degree simulation. They have been adopted by military agencies such as the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Department of Defense, and to national and international law enforcement agencies.
