Sony To Launch 4k Projector This Summer

Sony will expand its lineup of 4k projectors this summer with the launch of its new SRX-R210 cinema projector, which will be added to the company's SRXD family of high-end projection systems for theaters.

The SRX-R210  joins the R105, R110, and R220 in Sony's SRXD lineup. The R210 uses the same lenses and offers the same auto zoom and autofocus features as the lower-end R105 and R110 models but kicks up the brightness to 10,000 ANSI lumens trough a single Xenon lamp and adds in a number of new features, including keystone masking for straight and curved screens. It also adopts the same integrated, secure playback system enclosure found on the high-end (18,000 ANSI lumens) R220.

Other features include:
  • Color management software;
  • Automated zoom lens position;
  • Automatic light output adjustment;
  • Image masking for up to a 10-degree down angle;
  • Single-button powerup for projector and server;
  • Compatibility with Sony's LMT-100 4k Media Block and Screen Management System.
The R210 supports 2k and 4k content using a 4,096 x 2,160 pixel matrix (8.8 megapixels). It's expected to ship this summer. Pricing has not yet been firmed up.
