Cuba Opens Second University for Information Technology

Cuba opened a University of Information Technology April 4 in the eastern part of the country, the press agency Prensa Latina reported.

The new school's syllabus is based on the Information Sciences University, which opened in Havana in 2002 and now has 10,000 students, Prensa Latina reported.

The new school will be located in the Polytechnic Informatics Institute of the Granma municipality of Manzanillo, 460 miles from Havana.

About 300 students are expected to study in new school.
