National Instruments Expands Site License

National Instruments announced the expansion of its academic site license for higher education to include a student install option and new circuit design and simulation option. The student install option will allow licensed graphical system design software to be used on students' personal computers.

The circuit design and simulation option, a new software suite, is designed to provide students and professors with tools for schematic capture, interactive simulation, board layout and integrated test.

 According to National instrument, the NI Academic Site License is designed to address specific application areas including:
  • Control design and mechatronics;
  • Circuit design and simulation;
  • Signal and image processing;
  • Measurement and data acquisition;
  • Embedded design; and
  • RF and wireless communication.
The NI suite also includes LabVIEW, a program compatible with The MathWork's MATLAB software. According to National Instruments, "users can integrate their existing m-files" already created with MATLAB and "mix and match graphical and text-based approaches to meet their design application needs and quickly prototype systems."

National Institute Academic Site License prices start from $4,999.
