U Wisconsin Expands Content Management to 7 Campuses

The University of Wisconsin recently expanded its licensing agreement with Xythos, developer of content management software, to include seven campuses. The decision was made after initial installation on the university's Madison and Milwaukee campuses.

"Our campus prides itself on a very proactive approach to addressing the needs of our diverse communities. From emeritus faculty and alumni to faculty, staff, and incoming freshmen, we are focused on applying technology to add value to learning, teaching, research, and service," said Ron Kraemer, deputy CIO at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in a prepared statement. "We chose Xythos because it provides a secure, common content management platform that promotes collaboration and research."

According to Xythos, the content management technology was used to create My WebSpace for faculty to manage research projects and share materials for the classroom. Other ways the university used Xythos include:
  • Student hosted websites and e-portfolios;
  • Processing job applications;
  • Coordinating K-12 charter programs; and
  • Assisting visually impaired students with accessing information.
The University of Wisconsin System has more than 16,000 students currently enrolled and 26 four-year universities and freshman/sophomore colleges.
