Indiana U Earns Kudos from NSA

Indiana University was named a "center of excellence" by the super-secret federal National Security Agency. NSA specializes in intelligence gathering for United States defense and intelligence planners.

NSA cited IU for its "ongoing commitment to the protection of digital information from hackers and other Internet-savvy troublemakers."

The designation, which applies for five years, was based on "a rigorous review" in which applicants are "evaluated against stringent criteria," according to NSA.

Fred Cate, an Indiana law professor and director of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, said the title "reflects the university's internationally recognized prominence in the study, teaching and use of information technologies."
