Universities Deploy Oracle Administrative Systems

Several universities and colleges have recently purchased and deployed Oracle solutions for administration and marketing, the company reported at the Educause show in Seattle, WA. These include student lifecycle management, enterprise resource management, and marketing applications. Oracle provided details on three of these implementations: Brigham Young University-Hawaii, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and Moody Bible Institute.

At BYU-Hawaii, IT staff deployed several Oracle solutions for security, administrative processes, communications, and student services, including PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions. Campus Solutions is being used to provide self-service functionality for students for receiving grades and curriculum materials online, paying bills, and modifying personal information. BYU-Hawaii serves about 2,400 students.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges, which serves about 2,000 students in New York, has just begun deploying several Oracle systems as part of a plan to standardize its infrastructure on Oracle with Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server. As part of the plan, the undergraduate institution is deploying PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM, PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance Management, and the Oracle User Productivity Kit. The first phase of the deployment begins later this fall with the rollout of CRM, EPM, and Campus Solutions for recruiting, admissions, and student retention. Subsequent implementation phases will occur in 2008.

The Moody Bible Institute has recently begun implementing PeopleSoft Enterprise Online Marketing, PeopleSoft Enterprise Recruiting and Admissions, PeopleSoft Enterprise Contributor Relations, and PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal. Further rollouts will take place this year and throughout 2008, according to Oracle.
