San Jacinto College District, near Houston, TX, has joined
Capella University's Education Alliance Program. Capella, an online university that serves 20,000 students, offers online degree programs focused on higher education faculty, administrators, and students.
The alliance gives graduates, faculty, and staff of the affiliate schools a simpler application process with no GRE requirements, tuition discounts on Capella courses, and a smooth transfer of credits toward a four-year or graduate degree through Capella. Capella said it has educational partnerships with more than 200 community colleges and other educational institutions across the country.
"The agreement between Capella University and San Jacinto College provides greater opportunities for our graduates and employees," said Dr. Sarah Percy Janes, Dean of Instruction at San Jacinto College. "I believe that the quality of education a person can receive from Capella University is evident in the San Jacinto College employees that have continued their education at Capella."
San Jacinto College serves about 25,500 students and works closely with neighboring school districts to help students proceed from high school to college through tech-prep initiatives, dual-credit programs, and an early college high school.
