Tornado-Damaged School Goes Online with Tutoring

Union University, which had major portions of its campus destroyed by a tornado in early February, said it will be offering free online tutoring to students through a donation from AskOnline.

The Jackson, TN school has received a one-year license for the tutoring platform, which connects a campus' existing tutors with students through a Web browser. Many students have been displaced from their dorms and have gone through academic disruptions during the recovery. AskOnline will let them stay in touch from any location with the tutors they were already working with.

"We are grateful for AskOnline's generous contribution, which will help our school as we start the long rebuilding process. Union University has a long tradition of academic excellence and now more than ever it's important to provide our students with the academic support they need for their continued success," said Jacqueline S. Taylor, assistant dean of students & director of career services. "Our students have been through a very traumatic experience and with AskOnline we will be able to provide them with some semblance of normality and familiarity which is so important at this time."

A number of technology vendors have provided the school with products and services to keep them running through the rebuilding process, including Aruba Networks, CDW-G, Datatel, Dell, Ferrilli Information Group, Interactive Solutions, and Synergy Technologies Group.
