e2Campus Adopts OASIS Common Alerting Protocol 1.1

Omnilert has released e2Campus 3.0, an update to the company's emergency notification system for education. The latest release adds support for OASIS Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) 1.1, allowing e2Campus to integrate with a range of other emergency communications systems.

The e2Campus system gives campus administrators a centralized interface for sending urgent messages to campus Web sites, digital signs, mobile phones, e-mail accounts, and RSS readers used by students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Now, with the adoption of OASIS Common Alerting Protocol 1.1, the system can integrate CAP 1.1-compliant desktop alerts, SMS text messaging systems, e-mail broadcast systems, and phone dialers and other communications media into a single interface, according to Omnilert.

Beyond its new integration features, e2Campus also gains performance enhancements, the ability to send text and voice alerts from a single screen, real-time status display, new customization features, delivery reports, a mobile administration portal, and custom reminders.

Other new features include:

  • Support for pre-recorded and pre-written messages;
  • Contact information uploads;
  • Selectable services;
  • The ability to search message history;
  • Control over aliases on messages;
  • Improved RSS; and
  • Additional administration roles.

e2Campus 3.0 is available now. The upgrade is available free for current customers. Licenses run about $1 per user per semester for 10,000 users.
