MiraCosta College Wraps PeopleSoft Upgrade

California's MiraCosta College has finished the upgrade of several Oracle PeopleSoft applications with the help of service provider Ciber. The vendor said it divided the upgrades into two projects and completed both on time and on budget.

MiraCosta College partnered with Ciber in 1999 on the original implementation of the PeopleSoft-integrated human resource/student administration system. The most recent engagement included the upgrades of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Human Capital Management system, as well as Financials and Supply Chain system. All applications are now running in 9.0 versions.

"With the upgrade to our Oracle PeopleSoft applications we are now running an up-to-date system that provides increased functionality. Our technical systems are even more efficient than before and we are very excited to be running all of our Oracle applications in the 9.0 versions," said Mario Valente, MiraCosta's dean of academic information services. "We are extremely satisfied with Ciber's implementation and plan to work with Ciber on future upgrades."

Ciber provided the college with technical and functional consulting on both upgrade projects and shortened the upgrade timeline in order to reduce cost. The company's upgrade lab, which provides a controlled, secure environment in which to test new implementations, allowed Ciber consultants to complete a large portion of the project off-site.

MiraCosta Community College has 15,000 students at multiple sites in Southern California.
