U Pacific Engineering Students to Work on DoubleCAD XT Pro

The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific will be standardizing on CAD software from IMSI/Design. Licensing for DoubleCAD XT Pro will enable students and faculty to use a version of the AutoCAD work-alike on both personal systems and school workstations. The program provides tools for architecture and mechanical design.

"DoubleCAD XT Pro immediately feels familiar while adding numerous additional features," said Paul Burdick a systems administrator at the school. "We've always been hampered by other [computer-aided design] vendors' licensing and activation technologies. DoubleCAD XT Pro deployments are easy, saving us a lot of installation and licensing headaches."

Students will be able to download a free, non-water marked, non-restricted version of DoubleCAD (not the Pro version) to use at home or take with them to a job site, Burdick said.

U Pacific has 6,700 students on three campuses in Northern California, Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco. The School of Engineering and Computer Science is located at the Stockton campus.
