U Texas at Dallas To Streamline Business Processes with E-Procurement

The University of Texas at Dallas has joined nine other institutions in the University of Texas system by announcing it will deploy a suite of procurement-related applications from SciQuest. The adoption is part of a broad UT System and shared services Oracle PeopleSoft project nick-named "Gemini," whereby the universities will install applications to streamline business processes. As part of the e-procurement initiative, the campuses will collaborate to share purchasing resources and create a single buying consortium to negotiate more competitive terms and conditions with suppliers.
"The deployment of SciQuest will allow us to gain real-time visibility over spending, eliminate time-consuming and costly tasks, and stretch the value of every dollar," said Calvin Jamison, vice president of business affairs. "SciQuest delivers the capabilities required to utilize strategic sourcing and purchasing techniques, including participation in consortium communities, that will enable us to capitalize on procurement's proven ability to drive bottom line results--all while increasing the value of our new financial system of record from PeopleSoft. This valuable tool is another great addition to our 'Tier One' infrastructure goal!"
The applications are designed to be integrated with financial management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications. The suite of programs covers multiple facets of the purchasing process, including a spend director, sourcing manager, requisition manager, order manager, settlement manager, and supplier network.
