Rutgers Installing Crescendo Controller for Sakai Load Balancing

Rutgers University in New Jersey has selected an application delivery controller from Crescendo Networks to optimize performance of its Sakai learning management system. The university is implementing the company's AppBeat DC controller for load balancing, basic health checks, and SSL offload processing.

The purpose of the appliance is to offload processing-intensive tasks from Web servers during high-traffic times.

"With more than 52,000 students from all 50 states and 100 countries, it's critical that access to https://sakai.rutgers.edu/ is fast and predictable," said Adoram Ga'ash, CEO for the vendor. "Rutgers selected AppBeat DC because of the ability to accelerate user experience under load in addition to providing scalability to support their growing and sophisticated online demands."
