Datatel Releases Moodle-Based ERP/LMS Application

Datatel has launched a new platform that integrates enterprise resource planning with learning management system (LMS) features. The new application, Intelligent Learning Platform, first surfaced in March 2010 when the company said six institutions were doing beta tests. The platform integrates technology from Datatel with the open source LMS Moodle.

Moodle is deployed within the Datatel Intelligent Learning Platform either as a hosted service through Moodlerooms, a service provider that offers Moodle consulting, or as an onsite installation.

"Our experience beta testing the Datatel Intelligent Learning Platform has exceeded our expectations," said John Davis, CIO at Marietta College in Ohio. "It has shown us that technology need not be costly or complex to provide a true and complete view of students to serve and retain them." The college expects to move off of its current LMS, WebCT, by fall 2010.

Datatel predicted that ERP and LMS integration will become the norm. "By fusing teaching and learning with administrative ERP, the full potential of technology in support of student success is realized at a fraction of the cost of stand-alone learning management systems," said Wayne Bovier, Datatel senior product manager.
