Oracle WebLogic Server 12c Gains Full Java EE 6 Support

Oracle is releasing a major revision to its application server for Java Enterprise Edition (EE), Oracle WebLogic Server 12c.

WebLogic Server is part of Oracle Fusion Middleware, the Oracle Cloud Application Foundation, and the new Oracle Java Cloud Service. This release of Oracle WebLogic Server is certified for the full Java EE 6 platform specification.

Key features of Oracle WebLogic Server 12c include:

  • Out-of-the-box support for dependency management and a uniform build process through an updated plugin for Apache Maven;
  • New Oracle Traffic Director (OTD) for high availability traffic routing, dynamically configurable caching, load-balancing, and proxy support for HTTP-based applications;
  • Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder for configuring and packaging multi-tier enterprise applications on Oracle VM virtualized environments;
  • Improved integration between Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), which can auto-detect and correct database node failures;
  • Ability to store data in either a file store or a database for disaster recover, as well as the option to store transaction logs in a database;
  • Support for database-integrated replication technologies with Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Active Data Guard for all dynamic application data, including online, Java Message Service (JMS), and transaction logs; and
  • Improved application security with Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2.

According to Oracle, WebLogic Server 12c will be available for download "soon." Further information is available at the Oracle site.
