Ingram, BlackBoard Team Up To Deliver E-Textbooks Through LMS

Ingram and BlackBoard have created an integrated platform that enables BlackBoard Learn users to access digital learning materials from their learning management system. The new platform, Blackboard Building Block for VitalSource, enables institutions to deliver e-textbooks and resources in mobile, online, and offline environments.

With Building Block, students and instructors can access VitalSource’s digital library from their desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. Course materials can be viewed online or downloaded to the user's device. Users can make notes, highlight, and share notes information with other users from within the single sign-on environment. Notes and highlights automatically sync across devices.

The integrated platform also allows instructors preview and customize material for their courses. Teachers can link to assignments and activities from within the e-textbooks and share that information with their students.

Building Block supports users on Mac and Windows operating systems, as well as iOS and Android-based mobile devices. The platform is available to institutions using Blackboard Learn 9.1.

For further information, please visit Ingram's VitalSource Web site.
