WizIQ Updates Virtual Classroom Plugin for Moodle

Ed tech developer WizIQ has released an updated version of its virtual classroom plugin for the open source learning management system Moodle 2.3.

WizIQ Virtual Classroom is a collaborative learning tool that provides audio conferencing, videoconferencing (with up to six live video streams), whiteboarding tools, screen sharing, breakout rooms, file sharing, and support for unlimited attendees. It supports single sign-on and allows presenters to schedule and manage classes, track attendance, record sessions, and edit various WizIQ parameters directly within the Moodle environment.

In addition to gaining support for the newly released Moodle 2.3, the latest update also provides enhancements to attendance reports, classroom recording, and scheduling.

Attendance reports can now be downloaded in any of five different file formats: Excel, Open Doc, unpaged XHTML, and comma- and tab-separated text files.

The scheduling feature offers a quick help pop-up dialog for every field, adds multiple time zone support, and allows administrators to schedule meetings for other teachers.

Class recordings have also been enhanced for ease of access. According to the company, "All classes on WizIQ can be recorded. The administrator can then allow students to view the recordings online or download them. Recorded classes capture media sharing (audio/video), desktop sharing, and content sharing within the main portion of the WizIQ Virtual Classroom. Students can launch a recorded session directly from their Moodle course page."

WizIQ Virtual Classroom starts at $15 per month per teacher. A 30-day free trial is also available. Additional details can be found on WizIQ.com.
