U Kentucky Upgrades Security Management

The University of Kentucky is upgrading its campus security to an integrated system. Video surveillance and analytics will work with IP cameras, encoders, and access control devices over the network. Users will be able to manage the system locally or remotely through a Web browser.

The university has chosen to deploy the NLSS Gateway from Next Level Security Systems. Gateway combines IP video access, analytics, event management, audio, access control, and other functionality in an appliance.

Systems integrator Dallmann Systems and engineering firm BCCLT Consulting Engineers will work with the university to lay in the new security components. That will eventually include more than 2,000 video surveillance cameras placed throughout the 800-plus acre campus. The campus community of 40,000 people will be enrolled as cardholders for the new access control system. The university will also integrate its mass notification service and Talk-A-Phone emergency call stations into the system as well.
