Schools Deliver Online Learning, Mobile Capabilities with New LMS

Pennsylvania College of Technology and the American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) have adopted Desire2Learn Learning Suite. The institutions plan to use the platform to provide distance learning courses and mobile capabilities to their students and educators, according to a statement released this week by the company.

AUWCL, located in Washington DC, will launch its new online learning program this year, which will run on the Learning Suite platform. The software suite enables faculty to customize their courses, broadcast class sessions, and gives students a repository where they can build a portfolio of their work.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology implemented the software as way to provide constituents with mobile capabilities and reporting tools, said Walter Shultz, director of the Office of Instructional Technology at the institution. The platform includes mobile apps that allow students to access course information and documents from their handheld devices. It also features advanced reporting tools for tracking and analyzing student performance.

"The Desire2Learn Learning Suite provides us with an excellent foundation to explore new technologies, including mobile and analytics offerings that help better engage students and improve their learning experience," said Shultz, in the prepared statement.
