Edmentum Reveals Automated Student Progress Tracking Platform

Edmentum has unveiled Sensei, its new student achievement platform intended to help track individual student progress as well as manage larger-scale performance data.

The debut comes at this week's ISTE 2013 conference in San Antonio, TX, where Edmentum is exhibiting the new achievement platform and other solutions at booth 9212.

"The increase of technologies in the classroom combined with new rigorous standards has put more pressure on educators than ever," said Andy Frost, vice president of product management for Edmentum, in a company release. "Sensei gives all education professionals greater insight into achievement levels so they can better target students' unique needs. It also automates the collection of student-performance data so teachers can focus on instruction."

The platform is optimized for laptops and mobile devices and allows teachers to track student engagement, subject mastery, recent activity, grades, and other data. The information Sensei provides can be monitored on multiple levels, from an individual student or class to a specific grade level or an entire school to help identify needs or patterns, measure growth, and glean insights, according to Edmentum.

Sensei also allows teachers to communicate with students to answer questions, comment on their work, or help them through problems, and can be used to deliver assignments or assign work.

Sensei will be available to schools and districts later this year for Plato Courseware online curriculum and Edmentum Assessments, according to a company release, and will eventually encompass all of Edmentum's pre-kindergarten through post-secondary online learning solutions.
