In Case of Crisis Mobile Safety App Now Available Through Blackboard Mosaic

In Case of Crisis, a mobile safety app from Irving Burton Associates, is now integrated into Mosaic, Blackboard's app platform.

The In Case of Crisis app allows faculty, staff and students to access up-to-date emergency preparedness procedures and other campus information on a smartphone or tablet, even if they lose their WiFi or cellular connection. Users can receive push notifications and alerts; view instructional and building diagrams; get step-by-step actions for specific situations such as fire, severe weather and other emergencies; and make one-tap calls to key contacts. An incident reporting feature allows members of the campus community to provide information anonymously; ask questions; seek help; and link reports to a GPS locator and photo attachments. The app also includes access to a library of 85 possible emergency event scenarios with templates and images.

"In Case of Crisis gives us the ability to put our emergency plans and training into the hands of our community members for instant access," said Mike Lefever, associate director for emergency management, Department of Public Safety, at the University of North Dakota, in a press release. "It also enables us to leverage technology for safety hazard reporting to our Operations Center so that we can keep our campus safe. The integration into our University app via Blackboard also allows more community members to have access to this information."
