Updated iTunes U Brings Course Tools to iPad

Apple's latest iTunes U release adds new tools for building and experiencing educational content on an iPad. Beginning July 8, instructors can create, edit and manage courses via the free iTunes U iPad app, and students will gain collaboration tools such as the ability to start class discussions and ask questions.

The new in-app updates to iTunes U allow teachers to use content and learning materials from iWork, iBooks Author or any other educational apps available for iPad. Users can also incorporate photos or videos taken by the iPad's camera.

With the Discussions module in the iTunes U app, "students can automatically follow classroom discussions and join conversations on new topics, or set up push notifications for when new topics are started or replies are added to active exchanges. Teachers can participate in forums too, and have the ability to moderate discussions by removing any off-topic messages or replies," according to a company statement.
